The GNC's 2024 Annual Report (global and country) highlights the collective efforts to address malnutrition amid compounding global crises such as conflict, climate change, economic shocks, and other emergencies. The GNC focused on three strategic pillars: People, Operational and Technical Support, and Enabling Environment.
Key Achievements:
Capacity Strengthening (CS): Expanded CS services through innovative, blended, and localized learning pathways. Over 13,000 individuals accessed the GNC-Learn platform, and 342 practitioners were trained in 13 NiE programme trainings.
Localisation: Launched the GNC Localisation Roadmap 2024–2025 and Dashboard, fostering regional adaptability and local leadership. Support was extended to local and national actors (LNAs) in countries like Mali, Somalia, and Sudan.
Climate Crisis Integration: Initiated a framework to align nutrition programming with climate action, including a scoping paper and 13 recommendations to better respond to climate-related emergencies.
Provided support in 64 countries, fulfilling 362 requests through quick remote and in-depth support, focusing on coordination, information management, and nutrition programming.
Strengthened regional support and conducted preparedness training, particularly in disaster-prone areas.
Updated and disseminated key tools and guidance, including the comprehensive NiE Toolkit and thematic technical materials.
Enabling Environment:
Advocated for nutrition as a standalone priority in humanitarian action.
Hosted 23 webinars with over 3,000 participants, advancing topics like resource mobilization, gender-based violence, and climate-nutrition linkages.
Expanded engagement in global forums and initiated the GNC Anti-racism and Localisation Community of Practice.
Looking Ahead (2025):
Increase support for LNAs and decentralize training and mentoring.
Enhance responsiveness to climate, gender, and equity in nutrition programming.
Continue developing digital tools and expanding local expertise to build resilient nutrition systems.
