AI Bias – Key Takeaways

Anti-racism & Localisation Community of Practice | April 2026

This resource summarises key reflections from the GNC’s Anti‑racism & Localisation Community of Practice on AI bias and its implications for nutrition in emergencies and the wider humanitarian sector.

As AI tools are increasingly used in humanitarian work, this brief highlights how they can reproduce and amplify existing inequalities, pose new operational and safeguarding risks, and create ethical and environmental concerns—often disproportionately affecting marginalised communities. Drawing on CoP discussions and existing guidance, it emphasises the importance of critical review, transparency, human oversight, and leadership awareness when using AI.

The document is intended for humanitarian practitioners, coordinators, leadership, and donors seeking to better understand and navigate AI‑related risks in NiE work.

The views reflected are drawn from Community of Practice discussions and do not necessarily represent those of the Global Nutrition Cluster or any individual organisation.
