Humanitarian Nutrition Financial Gap Analysis
Since the May 2025 update from the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC), humanitarian nutrition programs have faced an unprecedented funding shortfall, with devastating consequences for women and children in crisis zones.
Key highlights:
- Humanitarian nutrition targets in 20 priority countries have been slashed from 42.3 million to 27.9 million people, targeting only 42% of those in need.
- A 72% funding gap remains for 2025, with $473 million still required to deliver critical nutrition support.
- In Yemen, one of the world’s worst nutrition emergencies, 70% of moderate acute malnutrition treatment needs are unmet, leaving 450,000 vulnerable children and mothers without care each month.
The funding shortfall is forcing humanitarian workers to make impossible choices, on who does not receive treatment. Lives are at risk, and preventable deaths are inevitable without urgent action.
What’s needed now?
We urgently call on donors for flexible, front-loaded funding in Q4 2025 to stabilize operations and prevent further deterioration in nutritional outcomes.
