This multilingual HNPW session took place on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, 14:00 – 15:30 CET / (UTC+1)

Watch the recording (EN & FR)

About the Session

Communities are experiencing increasingly frequent climate shocks, disease outbreaks, displacement, and economic disruptions, all of which heighten vulnerability and can rapidly worsen nutrition outcomes. Early, proactive interventions are essential to prevent spikes in life-threatening malnutrition.

This session explores how early warning systems and nutrition-sensitive anticipatory action can prevent deteriorations in nutrition outcomes. Speakers shared real-world examples and discussed how to build the enabling environment - funding, coordination, localisation, and learning - necessary to scale AA for nutrition.

Session Outcomes

Participants:

  • Examined innovative initiatives and predictive tools to translate early warning signals into triggers and the timely anticipation of nutritional risks.
  • Learnt from practical country examples of anticipatory action systems for nutrition developed with local actors.
  • Explored how to create an effective ecosystem for AA for nutrition, specifically analysing funding, coordination, learning, and localisation dimensions Identify priority actions needed to advance an integrated anticipatory action ecosystem for nutrition.

Intended Audience

This session is particularly relevant for: Nutrition and AA practitioners across UN, NGOs, and government; National and local actors implementing or exploring AA approaches; Donors and partners interested in risk financing and prevention; and Early warning specialists working on nutrition or climate-linked crises.

We strongly encourage colleagues working in humanitarian and fragile settings to watch this global exchange.
