End-year report 2022
January to December 2022
In the quarter from January to June 2022, covid 19 was not significant given the availability of vaccines and the operation of vaccination centers. There is a decrease in the number of complicated cases and deaths. Partner activities have included a small component of infection prevention and control at the malnutrition treatment centers. The major challenge remains the impact of the Ukrainian crisis which has impacted the activities through the increase in the price of inputs and the decrease in the funding of NGOs involved in nutrition. This crisis has also had an impact on the availability and cost of fuel, which has handicapped the deployment of teams and even the supply of inputs. Some therapeutic feeding units have reported deaths due to lack of power to operate the resuscitation equipment.
Insecurity remains a major challenge that affects the proper delivery of nutrition care due to lack of access. The activism of armed groups causes people to abandon their villages and reduces access to nutritional care. Some health facilities are no longer functional because they are either occupied by armed forces or are completely looted.
