In Venezuela the main limitations to carry out the service delivery on nutrition interventions is the lack or absence of nutrition supplies. Despite that the availability of nutrition supplies has increased in the local marked in 2022 and the Nutrition Cluster has stablished aliances with private sector to access micronutrients and other supplies, the partners report a big dificulty to find certified distributors and suppliers that meet the quality requirements for RUTF; those that meet these requirements are too expensive. For the importation of nutritional supplements and equipment the process is complex, costly and time consuming. Organizations which are not members of United Nations agencies face greater challenges in the absence of an inter-agency procurement mechanism.
Due to oil shortage and its rising cost, the partners experiment an increase in implementation costs. This problem is exacerbated in remote regions with access constraints.
