Current Challenges
  • Monitoring programme implementation through joint field visits during the COVID-19 period has been difficult due to restrictions of movement imposed by local authorities to control the spread of the virus.
  • While the focus on virtual coordination is a palliative to maintain a high level of nutrition response coordination, low connectivity and lack of communication infrastructure are limiting its successful implementation. The cluster will have to strengthen the capacity of local partners and develop a new way of communicating with hotspot areas that are not well covered by reliable network services.
  • Insecurity and reduced humanitarian space, especially in the Lac province. There may be interruptions in humanitarian activities due to the deteriorating security situation, which may impact on access to beneficiaries.
  • The prolonged road delays in the transport of RUTF due to the COVID19 pandemic and the underfunding of nutrition programs have resulted in frequent breakdowns in RUTF and interruptions in IMAM program
