AVSI 2021 Multi sector Household Survey Ikwoto county

Ikwoto multi-sector Survey was conducted in November 2020 across all the eight administrative areas (payams) namely Bira, Chorokol, Chahari, Losite, Isohe, Ikotos, Imotong and Katire. It is the fourth kind of Survey ever conducted in the county the first was in September 2016 second in May 2017, third 2018.  Comparing the results found in 2018 with those observed in 2020, it is clear that there has been an improvement across the board. While favored by the improved security conditions, along with favorable climate conditions, this is also the result of AVSI focus in Ikwoto county, which in the last 2 years implemented as many as 7 FSL projects in Ikwoto county. Among the main results: Livelihood -There is a bit of changes in the HHS livelihood over the cost of two years as 93% of them sustain their living with the production of basic staple Foods in 2020 than in 2018 where 60% of the HHS depended on it. -10% of the HHS engage in crises coping strategy where by seeds kept for next cultivation are consumed while in 2018 18% of the HHS sold assets to meet their need. Food Security -2.6 meals eaten by children U5 years excluding breastfeeding compare to 2.3 in 2018 -24% are in Moderate Hunger and only 1% in sever hunger while 35% were Moderate in 2018 -The FCS had improved in the county as only 19% had poor FCS in 2020 while 48% in 2018 Agriculture -56% of the common lands are cultivated largely over 1 ha than in 2018 where only 16% cultivate above 1 ha. -38% of the HHS Cultivated Larger size of land than last year while only 27% cultivated Larger in 2018 -69% of the HHS Familiar with the farming practices while 59% HHS in 2018 aware of the practices Migration/Relocation -29% of the HHS Members Relocated out of Ikotos in the last 12 months for Families and other reasons; while 42% HHS did the same in 2018. -43% relocated because hungers in 2018 while 16% relocated for the same reason in 2020. Energy -59% of the HHS uses stoves/Konunwhile only 24% uses in 2018. Livestock -Livestock Farming has upgraded from 35% in 2018 to 50% in 2020 -Livestock Farming for Traction purpose has increased from 1% in 2018 to 4%in 2020.
